4 Game-Changing Table Saw Jigs You Can Find at Home Depot

I went shopping at Home Depot recently and stumbled onto four absolutely incredible woodworking jigs that I honestly did not know they carried. One of them is a "mystery jig" that is going to save some of you a ton of money because it can actually replace a high-dollar power tool.

Whether you are just starting out in beginner woodworking or you are looking to level up your shop efficiency, these finds are absolute game-changers. I was shocked by the quality and the price points on these, and I think you will be too.

1. The Powertec Precision Miter Gauge with Fence

If you are still using that loose, sloppy miter gauge that came in the box with your table saw, it is time for an upgrade. A high-quality miter gauge is one of the best ways to improve your accuracy and safety instantly.

This Powertec model is packed with features you usually only see on much more expensive units.

Key Features and Setup:

  • Beefy Aluminum Fence: It feels substantial and includes a T-track for easy attachments. You can grab the Powertec Miter Gauge with Fence here or on Amazon here. If you don't need the fence, they have a stand-alone version too.

  • Flip-Up Stop Block: Perfect for making repeatable cuts without having to remeasure every single time.

  • Positive Stops: It has a "tooth" design that seats right into common angles like 0°, 45°, and 60°.

  • Adjustable Miter Bar: It features expansion washers so you can take all the "slop" out of your miter slot for a butter-smooth glide.

Matt’s Pro Tip: When you get this out of the box, check it for square with a reliable square. Mine was a hair off, but it only takes loosening four bolts to dial it in perfectly. Once I set it, I tested it on some walnut, and it was dead accurate. For around $100, this is a steal.

2. Precision Setup Bars (The Budget Savior)

One of my most-used shop accessories is a set of setup bars. They take the guesswork out of setting blade heights and fence distances.

For years, I’ve used the KREG Set Up Bars, which are fantastic, but they will run you nearly double the price of these. These Powertec Set Up Bars (also on Amazon) are almost identical and come in at about $40.

How to Use Setup Bars:

  1. Blade Height: Use the center notch to straddle the blade and raise it until it touches the bar for a perfect depth.

  2. Fence Distance: Use the end nubs to set your table saw or bandsaw fence a precise distance from the blade.

  3. Router Depth: I use these all the time to set my router bits to the exact depth precisely every time.

3. The Powertec Crosscut Sled

If you don't want to spend a Saturday building your own DIY sled, the Powertec Crosscut Sled (available on Amazon here) is one of the better pre-made versions I’ve tested.

It features a nice laminate top that stays slick and a sacrificial fence that you can replace once it gets chewed up. It even comes with anti-wear strips for the bottom to keep it from dragging.

Safety First: If you are using a smaller job site saw, be careful because this sled is a little left-heavy. You will want some extra support on the left side of your saw to keep things stable.

4. The Mystery Reveal: The Jointing and Tapering Jig

This is the one that is going to save you some serious cash. If you don't have the space or the budget for a dedicated power jointer, the Powertec Tapering Jig allows you to edge joint and taper right on your table saw.

Why This Jig Wins:

  • No Jointer? No Problem: You can clamp a live-edge board to this sled, run it through, and get a perfectly straight edge.

  • Built-in Grip: It comes with sticky sandpaper strips to keep your workpiece from sliding.

  • Safe Tapering: It includes a handle and T-track hold-down clamps to keep your hands far away from the blade.

Essential Tools and Safety Gear

Woodworking is a blast, but keeping your fingers attached is the top priority. I always recommend using high-quality safety gear like the MicroJig GRR-Ripper or the Bow Push Stick.

If you are looking for a new saw, here are the ones I’ve used and recommend:
