We are Matt and Amy Outlaw, the owners of 731 LLC. aka 731 Woodworks.
We create DIY and woodworking content. We have been married since 2000 and have 3 amazing kids and 3 family dogs (we really don't even like calling them dogs since they are family).
HOW WE GOT STARTED...
I have a background in construction and have always loved to work with my hands. I love creating. In February 2017, I watched a YouTube video from Jay Bates. After seeing it, I decided to make the set of chairs with a side table that could be used on a deck or patio.. After making them, Amy staged them and we posted them for sale. They sold the next day, and as they say, the rest is history. A couple of months later in May 2017, I started the 731 Woodworks channel. Watch my first video! Boy have we come a long way since then. Check out the very first video, but don’t laugh too much at me. We got to start somewhere!
HOW DID WE GET OUR NAME, 731 WOODWORKS?
My wife and I met on July 31, 1999. 7-31. We married exactly one year later on July 31, 2000. Even though we didn't start woodworking until 2017, the name was born on July 31, 1999. 7-31 represents a day that changed our lives forever. We couldn't think of a better name for our company than 731 Woodworks.
WHY IS THERE AN ANCHOR IN YOUR LOGO?
Why do we have an anchor in our logo? It’s a reference to Hebrews 6:19 We have this hope as an anchor for the soul, firm and secure. It enters the inner sanctuary behind the curtain, 20 where our forerunner, Jesus, has entered on our behalf. He has become a high priestforever, in the order of Melchizedek. ARE YOU REALLY A FULL TIME YOUTUBER?
As crazy it is sounds, yes I am. I started 731 Woodworks Youtube channel in May 2017. Exactly four years later in May 2021 I quit my job as an Arkansas State Trooper to pursue YouTube full time. Check out the full story of how that happened here: https://youtu.be/gZ7g7MTc7-Y
