Lowe's just rolled out a big wave of new power tools, and some of them are serious upgrades. DEWALT launched a new cordless track saw, two random orbital sanders, and an oscillating tool. Kobalt expanded its 24V lineup with new saws, a drill, an impact wrench, a shop vac, and TXP batteries. Here's every new tool worth knowing about, with the specs that matter and who each one is built for.

The Hottest New Tool at Lowe's
DEWALT 20V MAX XR 6-1/2 in. Plunge Track Saw
The DEWALT DCS525B Plunge Track Saw is the most talked about new tool at Lowe's right now. It's built for woodworkers, carpenters, and contractors. It rips solid hardwood up to 2-1/8 in. thick. DEWALT rates it for straight, repeatable cuts within 1/32 of an inch on its DWS5130 track.
The big story is safety. It's part of DEWALT's PERFORM & PROTECT lineup and uses the KICKBACK BRAKE system. That system shuts the saw off fast when it detects a pinch, stall, or bind. DEWALT also claims more power with better control than the leading competitor.

The track saw launched alongside a batch of new 20V MAX XR tools aimed squarely at the shop. That includes two new random orbital sanders and a new oscillating multi-tool. All three are sold as bare tools.

These new DEWALT 20V XR sanders are an absolute dream to use. In my testing, the 5 in. has slightly less vibration than the 6 in. But the 6 in. pad gives you about 44% more sanding surface.
Both pads hold hook and loop paper extremely well. Dust extraction on both models is impressive. With the bags off, you can see a clear stream of dust flowing out of the sander.
Connect the bag or a dust extraction hose and collection gets seriously impressive. It's some of the best I've seen on any sander I've tested. That includes Festool and Mirka, the top names in the industry.
DEWALT 20V MAX XR Oscillating Multi-Tool
The DEWALT DCS359B Oscillating Multi-Tool cuts wood, metal, drywall, PVC, and plastic. DEWALT says it has the fastest cutting speed with the lowest vibration versus leading competitors. It uses a brushless motor and an aggressive 4.2 degree oscillating angle.
It's also part of the PERFORM & PROTECT lineup. DEWALT rates it at up to 43% less vibration than the leading competitor. That matters on long plunge cuts and flush trimming.
This multi-tool is like nothing I've seen before. The vibration is near zero with this new design. Look closely between the head and the body and you'll see a black gasket. It absorbs the vibration, so you barely feel anything in the handle.

The CRAFTSMAN V20 Brushless RP Drill/Driver is built for tight spaces. Its 6.2 in. head is 25% shorter than the CMCD700. CRAFTSMAN claims up to 40% more power than that older drill. It also says this drill bores holes up to 19% faster than a comparable RYOBI model.

I saw the new Bosch lineup at the Lowe's Creator Summit, and this saw was one of the demos. The soft start is a welcome addition. So is the KickBack Control for added safety.
