10 Hottest New Tools of 2026 Every Woodworker Should See

If you scanned the QR code from the video, welcome. All the tool links are right below so you can grab what you need without hunting around. If you just landed here from a search, even better. Stick around, because 2026 has already dropped some of the most interesting new tools I have seen in years, including a tape measure I did not know existed, an impact driver so quiet you can barely hear it, and a router that quietly showed up on Amazon out of nowhere.

Let's get into it.

Now let's break down why these tools made the cut.

1. Makita 40V XGT Hammer Drill

I know I catch some flack for not covering Makita enough, but this new Makita 40V hammer drill has two features I have honestly never seen on any other drill.

What makes it different:

  • Digital torque setting on the base of the drill. Most drills have that torque collar up top that you twist to a number. This one uses a small LED screen and a dial on the bottom to set torque exactly where you want it.

  • A built in depth stop rod that slides right in and locks anywhere along the way. If you are drilling a batch of consistent holes with a Forstner bit, this thing is a game changer. Set your depth once and repeat every hole exactly the same.

You also get a three speed gearbox, drill, driver, and hammer modes, and a really wide, bright LED that actually lights up your work area instead of a pinhole down at the chuck. It runs on the 40V XGT platform, and if you have used the Makita track saw or Makita 40V sander, you already know that platform hits hard.

If you want the full package, grab the Makita 40V hammer drill kit with batteries and charger.

2. RYOBI EDGE Batteries (4Ah, 8Ah, and 12Ah)

RYOBI has been dropping tools every single Tuesday it feels like, but the biggest deal for me this year is the expansion of the EDGE battery lineup. EDGE batteries use tabless cell technology, which means more power output and more runtime, and I have felt a real difference in how RYOBI tools perform with them.

You now have three sizes to pick from:

If you are on the RYOBI 18V platform, upgrading to EDGE is one of the easiest performance boosts you can make.

3. RYOBI Whisper Series Hybrid Fan

As silly as it sounds, this little RYOBI Whisper Hybrid Fan is one of my favorite tools of the year. It runs off a RYOBI 18V battery or a standard extension cord, so even if you are not on the RYOBI platform, you can still use it. I keep one in my home gym for morning workouts, but it is just as good on the workbench or on a camping trip.

4. RYOBI 18V Hand Planer

The new RYOBI 18V hand planer is another quiet winner from Team Green. Perfect for taking the edge off a sticking door or trimming down a rough board.

Standout features:

  • Depth adjustment down to 5/64 inch

  • Reversible chip ejection, left or right

  • V grooves in the shoe for chamfered edges

  • Actually solid dust collection with the bag

Grab the full RYOBI planer kit if you want the battery and charger included.

5. RYOBI 30th Anniversary Black Drill

Not a new platform, not a new feature set, just a beautiful blacked out RYOBI drill to celebrate 30 years. Supply is limited, so if you want one, do not wait. RYOBI, please make more of these.

6. Milwaukee M18 Compact Blower

Milwaukee killed it with woodworking tools last year on the M12 line, but the tool that grabbed me this year is this little Milwaukee M18 blower.

Why every shop should have one:

  • Three interchangeable tips to control airflow

  • Three speed settings plus a variable trigger

  • Replaceable filter on the back

  • Great for blowing sawdust off the bench, out of pocket holes, and off your clothes before you head inside so the misses does not get mad

It also doubles as a car detailing blower and can inflate small stuff like pool floats and air mattresses.

7. FastCap Story Pole Tape Measure

FastCap makes some of the best tape measures out there, and I somehow missed the FastCap Story Pole tape measureuntil I was browsing Amazon.

Here is why it might take over the top spot in my shop.

What you get:

  • All the classic FastCap features: pencil sharpener on the back, write on surface, 16ths already marked out

  • A blank story pole section on the bottom of the tape

That blank section is the magic. Measure a board, make a mark on the tape, and now you can repeat that exact measurement over and over without ever writing down a number. When you are done, erase it with your finger and start fresh. If you have never tried a story pole workflow, this is the easiest way to get into it.

If you prefer the classic, the FastCap Lefty Righty is still one of the most popular tape measures I have ever shown on the channel, especially for beginner woodworkers who are still learning to read a tape. Every fraction is spelled out so you cannot mark the wrong one.

Pair it with the mechanical pencil I use and your layout game is set.

8. RIDGID NUKE Stealth Force Impact Driver

RIDGID has been quiet for a while, but they dropped a nuke on us this year with the brand new RIDGID NUKE Stealth Force Impact Driver. It is an oil pulse driver, which RIDGID claims is 73% quieter than a standard impact.

I tested it against the previous gen RIDGID subcompact and a Milwaukee M12 impact with a decibel meter running.

Sound test results at about 12 inches:

  • Previous gen RIDGID subcompact: 103 dB

  • RIDGID NUKE Stealth Force: 94 dB

That is a massive drop, and in person it barely sounds like it is working. You feel the driver hammering but you almost do not hear it. If you build furniture at night, work in an apartment garage, or just do not want to wear hearing protection for every screw, this one is worth a serious look.

Other features:

  • Three selectable speeds

  • An automatic ramp mode that increases power as needed

  • Slightly shorter than the previous gen, so it fits into tighter spaces

9. Kreg Rebel and Kreg HEPA Shop Vac

Kreg has dropped a pile of new tools in the last few months, and two of them stood out.

The Kreg Rebel is a cordless pocket hole machine on their new Ionic Drive platform. If you make cabinets, face frames, or anything with a lot of pocket screws, this thing changes your workflow. Drill, drive, done, over and over.

The Kreg HEPA Shop Vac is the hidden gem. A small footprint, two speed, HEPA filtered vac that runs on their 20V platform. It is perfect for capturing dust at the bench from sanders and routers, especially in a small shop where a full dust collector is not realistic.

Kreg also has a loose tenon joiner called the Kreg Edge coming in September. Bare tool is around $499, which is wild compared to the price of a Domino. I am calling it the Domino Killer for a reason.

10. Bosch 1 3/4 HP Plunge Router

Bosch quietly dropped a 1 3/4 HP plunge router on Amazon with almost no fanfare. It is not even listed on Home Depot or Lowe's yet.

What I like:

  • Forward leaning handle design that just feels right

  • Variable speed dial at your left thumb, trigger at your right index finger

  • Excellent plunge stop turret with about eight settings, way more than the usual three

  • Edge guide included

The drawback: it only accepts 1/4 inch shank bits. No 1/2 inch collet. That is a bummer for anyone running bigger profile bits, but if you just need a solid plunge router at a great price, this is one of the best values out there right now.

Bonus: Rockler Blade Cleaning Kit

This is the one I think every single woodworker should own in some form. Rockler sent over their Blade Cleaning Kit and man does it do the job.

Here is the deal. When you cut a lot of pine or resinous woods, your saw blade builds up sap and pitch. Most people think their blade is dull. It is not. It is gummed up. Clean it and it cuts like new.

What is in the kit:

  • Contained tray to catch the mess

  • Handles that screw onto the blade so your fingers stay away from the teeth

  • Brass bristle brush (soft enough to not damage carbide teeth) with a scrub pad on the other side

  • Storage lid so everything stays compact

I paired it with CMT Blade Cleaner and had a filthy Woodriver blade looking brand new in under two minutes.

A quick word on saw safety. Clean blades cut better, but they also cut safer. A dull or gummed up blade is way more likely to bind, kick back, or push you into bad habits like forcing the wood through a cut. Keep your blades clean, use push blocks and featherboards, and never remove a guard just because it is annoying. If you are just getting started, that is one of the most important lessons I can pass on.

Practical Takeaways for Beginner Woodworkers

If you are new to the shop, here is what I would actually spend money on from this list first.

  1. A quality tape measure. The FastCap Lefty Righty will save you from marking the wrong fraction more times than you can count.

  2. A blade cleaning setup. Cleaning your existing blades stretches your dollar way further than buying new ones.

  3. Dust management at the bench. Something like the Kreg HEPA Vac or the Milwaukee blower makes a small shop way more livable.

  4. Batteries that keep up. If you are already on RYOBI 18V, the EDGE batteries are the single easiest upgrade you can make.

Buy the tools that solve problems you actually have in your shop right now, not the ones that look coolest on YouTube.
