Why This Tool Is Worth It

A track saw is the single best answer to the biggest problem in a small shop: breaking down full sheets of plywood accurately without a cabinet saw and 10 feet of infeed space. Wrestling a 4x8 sheet across a contractor saw by yourself is dangerous and inaccurate. A track saw flips the problem around by bringing the saw to the sheet and leaving a glue ready edge in one pass.

The two 27.5 in. tracks combine for up to 55 in. of cutting, which covers cross cutting a 4 ft. wide sheet in one shot, and you can add more RIDGID tracks when you need to rip the full 8 ft. length. The rubber cut line on the track is what makes the accuracy real, since it grips the material so the track does not creep and it holds the veneer down to reduce tearout. Mark your line, drop the track on it, cut. There is no measuring offsets like you do with a circular saw and a straight edge.

Capacity and control are there for real work. A 2-1/8 in. depth of cut at 90° handles plywood, hardwood, countertops, and 2X material. Bevels run from negative 1° to 47°, so mitered panel edges and angled cabinet work are on the table. The cut window improves visibility on plunge cuts, and the depth and anti tip knobs are easy to read and adjust instead of being a guessing game.

The cordless side is where this kit gets interesting. Up to 5,000 RPM gives corded level cutting performance, and the 6.0 Ah MAX Output battery is rated for 370 linear ft. per charge, which is far more sheet goods than most people cut in a day. The swivel dust attachment fits 1-1/4 in. and 1-7/8 in. hoses, so hooked to a vacuum this saw cuts plywood indoors with very little mess. Add the Lifetime Service Agreement with registration and a battery that works with every RIDGID 18V tool you own, and the value stacks up fast.

Who This Is Best For

This is aimed squarely at the small shop woodworker and cabinet builder. If you work in a garage or a single bay shop and most of your projects start with sheet goods, a track saw changes your whole workflow. Plywood cabinet boxes, built ins, shelving, closet systems, and furniture panels all get cut cleaner and safer than they would on a small table saw.

It also belongs in the truck of a finish carpenter or installer. Scribing a countertop, trimming a door, cutting down a prefinished panel on site, or notching a cabinet run on location are all jobs where a cordless track saw is the right tool and a corded one is a hassle. The dust attachment matters a lot in a customer's finished home.

For anyone already on the RIDGID 18V platform, this is the easiest add since the 6.0 Ah MAX Output battery and charger work across every RIDGID 18V tool. If you are new to the system, that battery and charger are a real head start rather than a throwaway. The one group this is not for is someone who only needs occasional rough cuts, because a standard circular saw covers that for far less.
