Corded Kreg Edge Release Date and Availability
Lowe's is in the process of flooring the corded Kreg Edge, which means putting it on store shelves. Some Lowe's stores already have it on the shelf. Kreg says the rollout continues into early November and should be complete before the holidays.
Availability varies by store depending on when each Lowe's runs its reset. Check your local Lowe's to see if it is in stock near you.

Lowe's is first in line, but it will not stay that way forever. Kreg says other retailers will carry the corded Edge in the coming months.
Corded vs Cordless Kreg Edge: What Is Different
The short version is simple. The corded Kreg Edge has the same performance as the cordless Edge, with a cord.
You get the same transmission, the same fence and base, and the same adjustments. It cuts the same loose tenon holes and uses the same tenon sizes. Every Kreg Edge cutter and accessory works on both the corded and cordless tools.
It also ships in the same foam cutout case insert as the cordless Edge. That insert drops into a Milwaukee Packout, a DEWALT ToughSystem case, or a Festool Systainer.
The difference is what comes in the box. The cordless kit includes a battery and charger to power it, which the corded Edge does not need. The one accessory you give up is the Narrow Stock Guide.
| Not included with the corded Edge | Value |
|---|---|
| Kreg Edge Narrow Stock Guide | $69.99 |
| Kreg 20V 4Ah Battery | $99.99 |
| Kreg 20V Charger | $39.99 |
So which one should you buy?
Both versions are $499. The cordless Kreg Edge Kit includes the Narrow Stock Guide, and the corded Edge does not. If you work narrow stock often, you can add the guide later for $69.99.
The corded Edge makes sense if you work at the bench and never want to think about a battery. You plug it in and cut mortises all day. It is also a good fit if you have no plans to buy into the Kreg 20V platform.
The cordless kit makes more sense if you want portability or plan to add the Kreg Rebel, the Kreg track saw, or other Kreg 20V tools. 🔌
Why I'm Impressed With the Kreg Edge
I have used the Kreg Edge, and I am seriously impressed with how it works and how it is built. It puts Festool on notice at about a third of the price of a Domino set. This could be very disruptive.
The bigger fence is my favorite part. It is wider and longer than the Festool fence, so you get a more stable reference on every cut. Bit changes are easy too, with an onboard wrench and cutters that slide in and lock.
You do not need dust collection to run it, thanks to the built in chip relief slots. I still recommend hooking up a vacuum if you are cutting a lot of mortises. The micro adjustments for material thickness are a nice addition the Domino does not have.
Kreg Edge Loose Tenon Joiner Features
- Powerful AC motor and oscillating carbide cutter machines precise mortises in seconds
- One touch mortise width adjustment with tight, medium, and wide settings
- Micro adjustable fence height for custom and non standard material thickness
- Included fence centers mortises in stock from 7/16 inch to 2 3/8 inch thick, with manual mode for thicker stock
- Included Stability Base adds a large footprint for face mortising on panels and attaches tool free
- Built in chip relief slots clear debris during shorter work sessions without a dust extractor
- Dust port available when you want full dust collection
- Auto centering accessories and configurable edge stops at 1 inch and 1 1/2 inch from center of the cutter
- Alignment diamonds on the fence help you catch a twisted setup before you plunge
- Plunge depth adjusts in metric to match metric tenons
- Cutters available in 5mm, 6mm, 8mm, and 10mm
Kreg Edge vs Festool Domino
The Festool Domino has owned loose tenon joinery for years. The Festool Domino DF 500 RQ Set is currently $1,359, which kept a lot of hobby and small shop woodworkers out of the game.
The Kreg Edge changes that math. Its base is about a third larger than the Domino, and the fence is wider and longer. It adds a micro adjust for material thickness and runs without a vacuum.
Kreg cutters are cross compatible with the Festool Domino, and Festool cutters run in the Kreg Edge. I break the whole matchup down in my Kreg Edge vs Festool Domino post.
The Corded Kreg Rebel Is Coming Too
Kreg is also bringing a corded version of the Kreg Rebel Pocket Hole Joiner. It will be priced at $299.99. It is not available to order yet, so sign up for The Morning Cut and I will email you when it goes live.
If you want to know how the Rebel performs in the shop, read my full Kreg Rebel review. Pair it with the corded Edge and you have pocket holes and loose tenons covered without a single battery.
If you would rather go cordless now, the Kreg Rebel 20V Cordless Kit is available today.
Who the Corded Kreg Edge Is Best For
- Woodworkers who want Domino style joinery without paying Festool prices
- Bench and shop users who never want to swap or charge a battery
- Furniture builders working on dining tables, face frames, and cabinet doors
- Anyone not invested in the Kreg 20V battery platform
- Beginners who want strong, hidden joints that are approachable from day one
