This Table Saw Upgrade Will Change Your Shop Forever

A Next-Level Upgrade for Your Table Saw

This might just be the coolest table saw upgrade I’ve seen to date. The Bow XT Fence System adds five brand-new functions to your saw—boosting safety, precision, and versatility.

Even better, it can take the place of a jointer, a router table, and a few shop-made jigs you probably struggle with right now. For small shops and jobsite saws, this upgrade is a game-changer.

I want to thank Mike Taylor and the folks at Tay Tools, a family-owned business in Missouri worth supporting, for sending this over for me to check out.

What Makes the Bow XT Fence System So Special

If you’ve seen my earlier video on the Bow Products Extender Fence, you already know how useful it is for adding infeed and outfeed support to smaller saws. That alone was a massive upgrade.

The new L-Fence attachment takes it even further. It lets you replicate parts, cut templates, create tapers, rabbets, and tenons—all right on your table saw. Here’s a closer look at what it can do.

1️⃣ Template Cutting Made Simple

If you make the same part over and over, this will save you hours.

  • Stick your template on the workpiece with double-stick tape.

  • Set your L-Fence so the template rides smoothly against it.

  • Make your cut—no router table required.

You’ll get repeatable, accurate parts in minutes. Perfect for furniture builders, cabinet makers, and DIYers alike. Pair this with a MicroJig GRR-Ripper for maximum control and safety.

2️⃣ Perfect Tapers Without Jigs

Taper jigs take up space and can be fussy to set up. With the L-Fence, you can make accurate tapers in seconds.

  1. Mark the wide and narrow ends of your board.

  2. Line up a straight edge or scrap plywood as a guide.

  3. Run it through the saw against the L-Fence.

Result: a dead-accurate taper every time—no fiddling with complicated jigs.

3️⃣ Cut Rabbets Safely and Cleanly

Need to cut a groove for a frame or panel? The L-Fence acts as a sacrificial fence replacement.

  • Adjust your fence so only the desired amount of blade is exposed.

  • Run the board against the L-Fence.

You’ll get a clean rabbet edge without risking kickback or ruining your main fence. Add a CMT Dado Blade for extra precision.

4️⃣ Use It as an Edge Jointer

A good jointer starts around $350 and takes up a lot of space. With the Bow L-Fence, you can joint edges right on your table saw.

  • Tape a straight, flat piece (like scrap plywood) to your board.

  • Cut along the template edge to straighten the board.

  • Remove the template and rip the opposite edge parallel.

That’s two perfectly square, parallel edges ready for a panel glue-up.

Pro Tip: Always verify your table saw blade is 90° before jointing.

5️⃣ Pattern and Radius Cutting on a Band Saw

The same fence works on your band saw! Flip the radius guide around and you can cut smooth outside or inside radii using your templates from Crafted Elements. That’s one fence for both machines—saving you money and shop space.

Bonus: Safer, Smoother Operation

When I tested this setup, it felt incredibly stable and controlled — even on cross-grain cuts that normally make me nervous. Use a push stick or featherboards to maintain pressure and avoid kickback. The system keeps your hands away from the blade and helps your stock track perfectly straight.

Remember: a safety-first shop is a productive shop.

Why This Upgrade Matters

Whether you use a compact DEWALT table saw in a garage shop or a full-size SawStop cabinet saw, the Bow XT System adds versatility and precision without breaking the bank. It’s one of the few upgrades that actually makes your saw safer while expanding what it can do.
